In Retrospect

Looking back over the last year of the second millennium brings many observations that are worthy of consideration.

The onset of the year was met with serious concerns about the implications of the now passed Y2K threat.  Though largely ignored by the public at large, the threat was real.  Those who were diligent to investigate were justified in their concerns that many things might not work properly.

The attention drawn to these concerns resulted in appropriate measures being brought to bear on the problem and by God's grace, the fall out was minimal.  That got the year off to a wonderful start!

Talk of postponing the election cycle due to Y2K problems ended and the contenders were off to the races.  The major parties once again served up candidates whose rhetoric sounds a little different but whose intentions and actions would be the same.  The closeness of the election is clear evidence that no candidate has any kind of a mandate from the public except "None of the above."

Once again half of eligible voters did not register and half of those who registered didn't vote.  The winner takes office with the approval of less than 15% of eligible voters.  The slide down the slippery slope continues.

Christian voters in 42 states turned down the opportunity to vote for a Christian man who holds the rule of law dear and recognizes law to be the will of our Sovereign God.

Forgetting that He is sovereign, Christians supported a candidate who pledged to violate the Constitution and continue the evil of murdering America's unborn.  He shows no aversion to the abomination of homosexuality and chose a running mate whose own principles have been compromised by the behavior of his lesbian daughter.  This is what Christians supported!

All the concerns of Y2K pale in comparison to what has been foisted upon the citizens of our republic by those who profess to be the followers of Jesus Christ.  With friends like this who needs enemies.

As we welcome the first year of the third millennium, it is with serious concerns about the price which is to be extracted from our children and grandchildren.   May we do our part to assure that it is the beginning of a new hope in spite of the forces which are rallied against Godly government.
